Only The Sunny Hours was exhibited at Openhand Openspace, Brock Keep, Reading, 20th-24th June 2018. Open Day on Saturday 23 June, 12 noon - 6pm. During the Open Day, there was a Film Show, with Judy Goldhill Hall of Mirrors (2017); Judy Goldhill & Steven Fogel Water and Snow (2018) and Lift (2018); Cally Trench Circles (2018) and Horizontal Lines (2018); Philip Lee Cover (2017); Roxana Tohaneanu-Shields Ligatio (2002); Cally Trench & Philip Lee Undressing Nationality (2017) and Peephole Hut (2016). Everyone was invited to join Philip Lee for Group Photograph with Mirror twice during the afternoon. Cally Trench ran a pop-in Brownie 127 studio where visitors could dress up and be photographed. Linda Francis was available to chat about the new MFA course at Oxford Brookes. In addition, there was an Indoor Picnic, where visitors could sit, eat, drink and chat. |
Nick Trench read two stories from his book Ideas for Stories (2015): Exhibition for a Stone and Early Morning Scene. Lydia Julien presented Delve: Memory, Material and Photography: With recollections becoming faded amongst the change of the city, Julien explored failure to capture what once was - a journey of unreliable perception. A meditation with accompanying slides. Alex Dewart presented Adventures in Poland. Peter Driver spoke on Greenham Common, dissent and dartford warblers. Steve Perfect gave a poetry reading. Guy Tarrant talked about his recent photographic project School-Scapes, in which he explores visual evidencing of resistant behaviours found in school environments and their surrounding landscape. Marco Calí presented Geometry of Memory - a participatory talk. Roxana Tohaneanu-Shields presented Dualities, a talk about the multilayered process of digitally printing and presenting analogue images, and touching on the artist's work based on her recent dual existence - English and Romanian. Alex Dewart gave a tribute to Barbara Dyrschka. Ingrid Jensen presented More Than I Expected: Sometimes an exhibition brief takes you on a journey that you think you shouldn't have made. Mary Yacoob and Cally Trench talked about their recent Drawing Exchange project before exchanging the drawings. |
