Cally Trench's paintings
Our recollections of childhood are compiled from strange mixtures of the real and imaginative worlds that we inhabited as children. |
The Blue Swimming Costume, The Yellow Shorts, The Pink Hat, The Grey Trousers and Monument show a girl in ordinary clothes in unpopulated, exotic, rural, fictional or ambiguous landscapes. In Repeating History and Irretrievable Time, the child occupies a space between the real world and the world of toys and dolls. |
The Blue Swimming Costume, The Pink Hat, and The Grey Trousers were exhibited in RE:INVENT at Ovada Gallery, Oxford in 2005. These three paintings, plus The Yellow Shorts, were also exhibited in Contexture at Candid, London in 2005.Monument and Irretrievable Time were exhibited in Cally Trench / Nick Trench: HOME at the Penny School Gallery, Kingston in 2007. |
