Cally Trench writes: I find that I circle round the same recurring subjects, revisiting them from time to time: maps, viewing the world from overhead, back gardens, private and public spaces, crime, board games, family history, death, and the whole process of making marks on surfaces.
Recent work includes Private Property, in which I took on the persona of an explorer and cartographer, noting the features of the landscape around where I live, and drawing particular attention to the areas of privacy not visible at ground level. Grave is a life-size mapping of an overgrown grave in a local cemetery.
Cally Trench lives and works in Buckinghamshire. She recently completed an MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
