Lynne Grace writes: Water is a constant theme throughout my work, and my paintings celebrate my passion for painting itself and the awe with which I regard the sea. My work is a visual exploration of the complexity of this endless mass, which, since the beginning of time, people have stared at, and felt small, solitary, transient and awestruck. I want to offer the viewer an intimacy with the landscape as I have experienced it.

Inspiration for my work is always based on personal experience, not just from the present, but also from the past. I find ideas for my images from the written word, from music and from my travels. I am drawn to the wild coastlines of Nova Scotia and Western Ireland, and spend time on the Jurassic coast in Dorset.

I graduated from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College in 2006, and will start an MA in Fine Art at Winchester College of Art this September.

Lynne shared sketchbooks with Susan Burton and Lis Mann.
