101 is a body of works of 101 seconds in duration. 101 seconds is the only formal constraint and acts as a theme for the project. This length was decided on to encourage experimentation and translate into icons/thumb prints of the artists' ideas. The collection of 21 works reflects different interests and strategies for making work, including single shot, animation, slow motion, computer generated graphics, photofilm, collage and references to painting, performance and still photography.

AMBRUNO is a group of artists working in various disciplines. It includes artists materialising concepts with paint, cameras and performance, sharing a common wish to go beyond usual media practice. The group came together two years ago through the medium of artists' books. This culminated in the creation of 16 books, shown at fairs in UK and US. Their interest has now extended to creating works with a duration of 101 seconds.

Beyond the length of time, what unites the 101 works is slippery and difficult to label. The works include a range of strategies and skills to create work and handle image that exists in a timeline or has a duration. These include filming a single shot without editing, performance, animation, photo collage, utilising repetition, text, computer generated imagery and manipulation. The frames of reference are wide and rich.
